BiI3 has a common structural
arrangement shared by many halides of the transition metals
with formula MX3. It has a hexagonal close packed array
of iodide ions with Bi(III) sitting in 1/3 of the octahedral sites
and between adjacent layers of I's. Complexes that adopt this structure include.. TiCl3, TiBr3, CrBr3, FeCl3, FeBr3. |
