VF5 has a structure that consists
of an infinite chain of molecules linked by cis-bridging
fluorides. The vanadium(V) is approximately octahedral. The white compound has a melting point of 19.5°C and a boiling point of 48.3°C. In the vapour phase it becomes monomeric with a trigonal bipyramid structure. |
